Ever wonder what a dog would say if he had a Twitter account and enough knowledge to tweet?
At a recent conference, Mattel unveiled the answer Tweet-aholic dog owners once thought was only a dream. Puppy Tweets is Mattel’s newest product and it does the unthinkable: allows dogs to use Twitter.
What is Puppy Tweets?
The specially designed collar attachment was made for the ultimate dog lover. The device attaches to a dog’s collar and is preloaded with 500 Twitter phrases. They are designed to make any dog’s most ordinary activities sound interesting. Each time a dog moves, a new tweet is sent.
A few of the phrases any dog lover hopes to hear will be tweeted via a text message:
- “I bark because I miss you. There I said it. Now hurry home.”
- ”Can we get some sparkling water for the toilet bowl?”
- “It’s hard to tweet when you’re all paws.”
- "It's not the catching of the tail, it's the chase,"
- "Guess what I'm licking right now."
Mattel states that more tweets will be available for download soon after release.
How Does Mattel’s Twitter Dog Collar Work?
The dangling collar device sends a WiFi signal to the dog owner’s computer, via a USB receiver, each time the dog moves. Once that message is received, the pet owner receives a text with the dog’s tweet.
To set the dog’s Twitter ability up, all that is required is setting up a dog Twitter account, fit the device on the dog’s collar and let the tweets begin!
If the constant tweets a dog sends, particularly since they pure conjecture, gets a little too overwhelming, there is a setting that allows the pet owner to only receive tweets at predetermined intervals.
Where is Puppy Tweets Available?
Puppy Tweets is not available to the general public yet, but the device will be soon. Amazon.com is already accepting preorders.
The price tag is very reasonable at $30. The device measures 7.5 x 1.5 x 7.5 inches and weighs a mere 6.4 ounces. In addition, the collar attachments comes in either pink or blue.
Is There a Twitter for Cats?
Cat lovers are inevitably going to feel left out of the Twitter technology pet craze if a cat does not have the ability to Twitter, right?
While there are no known plans for a device specifically marketed for cats to Twitter, the Puppy Tweets collar attachment will attach to any animal collar, regardless of it is a dog or a cat. While tweets like “I bark because I miss you” might leave some cat owners scratching their heads, the technology could easily be applied to cats, as well.
Could there really be a Twitter for dogs? Puppy Tweets is the ultimate experience for dog owners who love Twitter. The Twitter dog collar means a dog owner will not miss a single activity their adored pet does during a day.
